Campbell is killing recruiting and it’s getting scary. Recruiting titles and 3-8 records will have a new staff in there before you know it.

Campbell is killing recruiting and it’s getting scary. FCS "recruiting rankings" are a joke. There's not a source I'm aware of that actually puts resources (time and money) into FCS recruiting rankings. They have a bunch of guys signed to NLIs but those are just scholarships they cant fill in the spring.

Totally agree with you that we desperately need to jump the sinking BSC ship, and do whatever is possible to land in the SOCON! There's no future in any other scenario if we want to have a stable D1 football presence. Lamb isn't staying in Boiling Springs after his first winning season here (2022!) if the Conference is in disarray.

I'll have to admit that I find it hard to believe the SoCon would want us just now. We'd fit pretty well in basketball, and I don't doubt that under Lamb we'd beat their worst football teams (as we did last year), but what do we have, really, to offer the conference? When it's not in any great need of expansion? I mean, GW would be the closest school to the Charlotte market, but we wouldn't "deliver" it.
Academically, we can hang with some of their members (loath though they might be to admit it), but we don't add prestige. And while I don't think they'd necessarily view our religious affiliation as a deal-breaker, I doubt very much that it's attractive, maybe especially since two of their more recent additions, Mercer and Samford, are "religious." (The main difference between them and us, as I see it, is wealth, and thus spending.) It would begin to look like a trend or a subtle re-shaping of the conference identity.
Other considerations (e.g., market, financial resources, athletic success, institutional reputation or recognition), I'm certain, matter more--but, again, which of those things is it that we'd bring?
That's not a rhetorical question, by the way. I'd love for someone to show me how wrong I am about any of this. Or to turn to arguments in favor of the A-Sun or OVC, though neither is a very exciting option.

Might as well just drop it. It is all lip service.

I for one am proud that GWU still has strong Christian/Baptist ties. If it is just lip service how come we still have dimensions required old/ New Testament classes a dry campus ect ect?

We do have a div school, even though it leans way left and is named after an academic fraud, it is an important cog on the academic/enrollment side of things. I tested the dry campus angle often 30 years ago.....I bet it is not as challenging as before with the progress of social media and the town itself selling now. Never underestimate the importance of inside zipper pockets in a golf bag.

It waa handy 30 years ago to be in a dorm on the weekend with maybe 6 other people total and the RA takes you on a beer run.
