I was walking on the quad today and heard a few football players talking about how they are going to have a party this weekend and how a RB recruit was coming up this weekend and joked about getting him drunk. I think some of them don't respect Dickerson like you guys think. He needs to break those kids. They seem to think they run the campus. That's not the case and they need to know they are no longer incharge.

gwufootballfan - There may be some players who think what you accuse them of but I can say with absolute certainty that not all think that way and in reality that has been proven in the past even though not to the degree that some may be clamoring for. Cases in point are parking tickets that are not forgiven, good grades not given but have to be truly earned, and so on and so on. Where football players rule a campus those types of things happen with some regularity. Trouble is swept under the rug often times. Many think athletes are spoiled brats but I don't hear of academic scholarship recipients being told to get out of bed before 5 a.m. to commence with studying or arriving back on campus at 4 a.m. after an 8 hour bus ride from an away game. With 90 young men on a typical roster and only 58 scholarship equivalents they all are certainly not recipients of full athletic scholarships either. You're entitled to your opinion but you're not entitled to your own facts.
It will be interesting to see how our recruiting efforts pan out over the next few weeks, who we end up having on the roster come the fall, etc. Our guys will be a tighter knit bunch with a more unified purpose under Coach D but G-Dubb doesn't spend the dollars that Liberty does on their program and is not a state school like Stony Brook or Coastal who doesn't have the rigid rules of a G-Dubb. Can our Running Bulldogs do it, become top dawg in the conference, yes I believe they can. But it will take all the precision, best strategy, best implementation and a good dose of luck to thread the needle so to speak. We do work from a deficit in many ways.

They seem to think they run the campus. How can you 'run the campus' when you aren't even a member of the #1 sport on campus? G-W is a basketball school first and foremost, history tells the story. So a couple of players aren't buying into it and are supposedly running their mouths on the quad. If so, I for one am confident they will be exposed soon enough and be gone, either by Dickerson doing the deed and/or someone in the admin. getting involved.

Yea, bulldog dad, this is Jeff. Hope all is well with ya'll. And to add to the other comment, there will always be some in any change that just believe they are above it and there will always be kids who just make dumb decisions. The new coach will straighten everything out and the ones that want to be with the program will be and the ones that dont wont.

Welcome aboard Unk! Sounds like several of the players have decided Coach Dickerson's way is not their way and they have left the team. Don't think any of them were major contributors to last year's team. Sounds like the kids that show up for Spring Ball will be the ones that really want to be there.
Go Runnin' Bulldogs!

We have spent 2 years watching a bunch of players that didnt want to be there, just wanted to play on saturday!! That wasnt fun. If you dont want to be on the same page as the coach, you need to get gone because you wont be doing nothing but hurting the program hanging around!!

If you take disclipine and conditionig serious, you will weed them out in a hurry. A man with an SEC background in charge of said discipline and conditioning will quickly weed out some lazy-asses who will end up as D-2 benchwarmers this fall or next....at best. Like the great Elmer Fudd once stated..... "good widdance to bad wubbish"[/i]

I am excited about this year!! I know that we played head to head with teams. and that was with guys(maybe had talent) but didnt always have heart and effort. We have some great talent returning!! You get those guys working the right way and feeling like effort is rewarded and look out. we could be very good this year!! Once guys get to playing and they realize what they get from thier efforts ,it gets contagious(or however you spell that word). I just hope, and I believe it will happen, that this staff actually knows how to make adjustments at halftime.
