Saw a Facebook post from a player telling all of his teammates to be sure and wear team issued clothing during workouts. If players are not complying they can expect a 5 am team workout. I know it's a little thing, but it is a good start to Coach Dickerson's tenure.
Go Runnin' Bulldogs!

I saw the same post and i believe little things like this will go a long way. He seems to love first impressions which leads me to think that our road attire may be different. Looking forward to seeing the changes ahead

Had a "conditioning" test at 4 today. From what I heard it was a little harder.

All good things to hear so far! The atmosphere has to change and it sounds like he is off to a great start!

New changes indeed. While I don't know the basis for it, I understand that the Running Bulldogs were up early today putting in a team run at 6 a.m. for some team related indiscretion. If Coach Dickerson hasn't gotten their attention yet, I can fathom where maybe the next time, the start may be 5 a.m. Putting in extra work can't be a bad thing even if the basis is disciplinary. Run Dawgs, run. LOL.

Run Dawgs, run. LOL. Eagle, One of the Administration's concerns was that the football players as a group lacked discipline and were acting as if they ruled the campus. Not applicable to all players, but a considerable concern nonetheless. Coach Dickerson expects his players to be in class looking somewhat more professional than they have in the past. No hats or hoods being worn in class. No texting in class. He wants his players to be sitting at the front of the class. I know Coach D has been working with the professors and he has told them what he expects of his players. He has also asked for them to give him input when his players miss the mark he has set for them. Apparently, several of our players have decided to challenge this new coaching philosophy and it has cost everyone on the team. It's going to be interesting to see how the boys react. I suspect some are just not going to be able to help themselves and will continue with their errant ways. These kids may decide it's time to play somewhere else. Most of the kids I talk to are very excited about the change of attitude brought by Coach D's staff. Go Runnin' Bulldogs!

I'll bet there is a big ol left tackle that is NOT happy that he is having to get up and run because his teamates are pulling their weight!! Hope none of those guys don't need a block to keep from getting creamed come spring practice!! LOL

If they don't like it, leave it.....
(Yes, I love Merle Haggard)
Maybe having some discipline for a change will prevent the mail-it-in attitude that seemed to prevail in the past three seasons, especially late in the year.

Unfortunately for the young man, I understand that Coach Dickerson, true to his stated vision, has a basic zero tolerance for improper behavior. As a result, a defensive starter has either been permanently kicked off the team or at the very least suspended for an indefinite period. Word has it that this action has caused everyone to take notice and be on edge. We all make mistakes so maybe the young man after some period of reflection and putting in any requested work by Coach D will be given an opportunity to redeem himself. I hope and pray that all of the players, especially my own, will realize that things have changed and their focus and discipline must not be compromised by poor decision making. Their respective futures on the team and most likely at Gardner-Webb hinge on doing the right thing at all times.
On another matter, does anyone have any idea when the SID will update the football web page to provide information on the new coaching staff members and give an update on recruiting?

They want to make one announcement with all of the new assistants on campus. I can't tell you why they want to do it this way. We should be hearing something soon.
Go Runnin' Bulldogs!

Eagle, the young man in question had already had one of these run-ins in the past. I fear he is being made an example of [not necessarily by Coach Dickerson]. I hope he will be offered an opportunity to redeem himself. I also hope our other players will get the message that it is a privilege to play football at GW and that they act accordingly. Go Runnin' Bulldogs!
