Looks like the Bulldog Club has a new Director. Not sure if the change was due to retirement or firing of former Director, but Downs's quote in the article makes it quite clear that he was unhappy with the direction of the Bulldog Club. Looks like a quality hire with some solid fundraising experience: gardner-webb.edu/news/mike-smith-named-bulldog-club-director/

Experience at Southern Miss and Limestone raising coin. The fact he doesn't answer directly to Burch is a BIG positive.

The crazy thing about it is that the old director didn't either. As far as I know, the Bulldog Club Director has never answered to Burch. Speaking from experience, it's alarming how little involvement he has with athletics fundraising. No surprise there, but definitely troubling for a school trying to run a D1 athletics department.

We still have the NAIA/D2 mindset, even with the move up being nearly 20 years old. One common thread...Burch.
To think how close we were to getting Bill Curry as AD, but Dr. Chris White didn't want to even put his ego in neutral and be overshadowed, so we ended up with you know who.

We need some fresh blood that wanna see this school reach new levels. And this AD wonders why students don’t attend more sporting events.
