From what I am gathering, Downs is far from popular and faculty morale is low.
The entire phys ed department left en masse not too long ago. Seems like alot of early retirements are happening campus-wide as well.
Anybody lurking want to chime in?

Theres definitely some smoke. My ears perked up when Tracy Jessup "retired" from GWU and immediately accepted a position at Anderson University.

Hope that, despite the smoke, there's no fire. As an alum, I'm thrilled with Downs's energy and creativity.

Jessup has always been tight with Clayton King, another GW alum at Anderson. Not a shock he would leave, but claiming 'retirement' seems like an out to keep GW from looking bad.

From everything I have heard they like some stuff ie more options for students and changes to the bookstore ect but don't like changes to core and being charged to go to sporting events, but at least now they get a discount. So I think it would be fair to say its a mixed bag

My guess--and it's only that--is that there's going to be some resistance to changes, especially among the faculty who have been here awhile. But change, at least of the kind that the prez seems to intend, is good. Difficult but good.
We're a solid, regionally known school that's taken some strides in recent decades. It's time to see whether we can get others to notice, and to continue improving.
