Big winnable game for the men against a struggling HPU squad. We did an excellent job protecting the ball Wednesday night. Let’s continue today and get the W.
Women have their toughest conference game to date. They win this one they’ll be three games up in first with 8 to play. Meaning some team would have to win their last eight and GW would have to be at least 5-3 in the same stretch. This is basically a clinch game for the regular season title and NIT berth barring a complete collapse of epic proportions.

Dominant 86-58 win by the men, completely dominant in the paint to offset a slow start from distance in the first half, HPU was never really in it. Keep it up at CSU Wednesday, BucDome is never an easy venue to play in.
Women rolled to a 86-58 win and have basically clinched. Now, my .02 on the melee with two mintues left. Yes, a dirty play by the HPU player that got her tossed, and deservedly so and she should get a game or two suspension for it. However, after it was all settled, seeing our three players on the court basically celebrating the fact that they got common technical fouls during the ordeal was flat out disgusting, and far from what GW should represent. The fact Simmons said zilch speaks volumes. Our ladies need a dose of humility, sportsmanship, and grace. If we play HPU in Charlotte, they've got video bulletin board material now. Now that the yellow-spined AD is gone, this is a chance for our new AD to make a statement over such behavior. We're better than that, if we're not, then there needs to be a 180 degree turn in attitude and culture immediately.
Another underlying issue is why the hell were our starters in the game up 20 with 2 minutes left to begin with? Don't our reserves deserve to play, or is it Simmons wanting to rub it in on opponents? It sure seems like it's the coach wanting to pile on, if it isn't, then it is a bad visual for sure. Same deal happened the other night at Upstate when Smith and starters were in late with the game well in hand. Show some class for a change, or karma is going to bite us in the ass with a needless late game injury.

That game Wednesday in the Buc Dome just became a lot more interesting and challenging. CSU pulled an absolute shocker tonight, won at LW 75-63. So the standings now are this:
1. UNCA 9-1 2. RU 8-2 3. LW 7-3 4. GW 6-4 5. WU 5-5
Top five all separated by a game each spot. Rather amazing 10 games into conference play.

If a player on my team gets curb stomped and my players dont respond to defend their teammate I would be furious. Glad the girls showed they have their teammates back. It took 15 minutes for the referees to finalize everything. Looked like they were more or less just celebrating that they could go ahead and end the game. HPU doesn't care what our girls were doing during the excessive delay. Give Simmons a raise, shes put together a team and culture that look after each other and its showing with the success on the court!

She’ll get her raise, down the road at another school if we win the title this season.

No, this incident was a heinous street mugging by a HPU player. The GWU players reaction to defend their teammate was IMO appropriate and defensible to say the least. I saw this play out. The 'foul' was one of the most aggregious I can remember. Sorry 94, your take on this one truly baffles me, and you know the respect I have had for you over the years!!

Read my post again gents. It’s not the reaction to the HPU player that is the issue. 12 could have easily opened a can on that girl. I never questioned that. The issue I had is that we had three players laughing about drawing technicals cheering when their names were announced. That’s bush league, and players are a direct reflection of their coaches. We’re better than that, or should be.
And completely ignore the point about rubbing opponents nose in it constantly late in games and not letting reserves play in mop up time. Too much bad karma from that, you are risking unnecessary injury to starters and not getting reserves experience that might come in handy during the conference tournament. 1 seed or not, 3 games in 3 days wears on a squad, depth is important.
Not a shock zero statement from the league office on sitting down that HPU player for a game or two. Can’t wait for that spineless twit Kallander to finally be gone. Kyle likely scared if he does anything the HPU President might have a friend back home in the old country that might whack him.

I think even the running up the score take is a bad one. it was a 13 point game with 7 minutes left in the 4th. Still within reach. 14 point game with 4:18 left in the fourth. Next stoppage after that point doesn't come until the 2:53 mark of the game. You gotta prepare your team for heavier minutes games are going to come where your starters are going to need to be conditioned for 30 minutes a game.
