typically with these buyouts anything he finds would offset the buyout. So he could go to a school in the Big South and get paid 180k and Ohio State would still be on the hook for 16.9 mil. Or he could go to a school in the acc and get paid 2 million and ohio state would pay 15 million. Regardless hes still making 17 million. so if big south school had a said opening at end of the year (though the coach has been consistent and kept the program in the top half of the league) why not choose said big south school

You’ll have at least one opening in the ACC at Louisville, and he’s a Kentucky native. The other two at FSU and Miami could happen with aged coaches approaching retirement.
SEC will have at least one at Vanderbilt more than likely.
Regardless, he can be selective.

Because the President and AD are both hypocritical assholes.

Yes, a sad but not unexpected day. His biggest supporter through the very rough last 1 1/2 seasons, AD Smith, is retiring this year. Chris looked awful, worn out, tired of the constant pressure and second guessing. I believe it was a mutual agreement in the end. He'd be a better fit in a more intimate environment such as he had at Butler. Best of fortune Chris Holtmann!
