Post your thoughts here. I’m assuming Luther is going with Craft, so that option is out.
Once the players leave as well, it will be full rebuild mode. What D2 or D3 coach can we get on the cheap that wants to move up and not worry about working in a hostile work environment?
There are several good names out there, but wouldn’t come here no matter what we paid them.

Jay Mcauley: previous HC at Wofford. Team turned on him in the middle of the season. He coach HS basketball in Georgia this year. Previously a GWU Assistant. Paul Hemrick: Would be a cheaper option. Also prior GWU coach. Has no HC experience. Christ Holtmann: LOL Luther: Why would he want the job if his best friend was treated so poorly?

I think any coach that’s been here before is likely aware of how Craft was treated and would laugh in Goodrich’s face if he called them. Just a hunch.

Let me throw this out there. Let’s say Luther wants it. Do you think Downs and Goodrich would hire him?
I don’t think so. Proven they want outsiders with no ties to GWU and will probably try to make a hire like HPU did. An Associate Head Coach at a good school that they can convince to come but won’t be successful due to constraints and limits placed by the two mentioned above. If Luther wants it and they don’t hire him it’ll be hard for me to come back to a basketball game at Paul Porter.

If Luther wants it, give it to him now with a four year contract and move forward. Luther can prevent mass defections from the roster and keep that pipeline of recruiting to New England open as well. But like you stated, expect Downs and his lapdog Goodrich to screw it up.

Luther staying as Interim indicates he wants the job. Next thing to look for is if they waste money on a hiring firm or not. If they're wasting that money, then it's evident he won't get the gig. If they just perform the search on their own they will have to do their due diligence but hopefully they can make an announcement pretty fast so he can hit the ground running and get ahead of people entering the portal as they lose in their tourneys and season end.

If this happens I think this dispells some of the rumors that have been floated here. Luther wouldn’t take the job if it’s was truly a shit show in GWU athletics

Yes he would. Same with any of us here if we wanted to be an HC.

Yes he would. Same with any of us here if we wanted to be an HC. Luther is well respected in the coaching ranks. If he just wanted to be a head coach. I’m sure he has already gotten a few phone calls.

Brown and Bullard with Craft just now in Cullowhee at the presser.
An absolute travesty that Craft had to basically take a lateral career move due to lack of support by Downs and Goodrich.
Now hurry up and announce Luther as HC.

Now hurry up and announce Luther as HC. Western pays around $290k for that HC spot. That’s close to $100k more per year. That isn’t lateral salary wise. Now as for program success and reputation, you could argue that it’s a step back … with a good bit more potential. The league is light years better, but is that a positive or negative? Regardless you can buy a nice mountain crib with that improved paycheck.

Let’s assume Luther isn’t the guy. All signs point to our AD and President messing that up.
Who’s on the list now? Can’t be someone who is too connected with the program. Anyone with any knowledge can see our admin is clueless if they passed up Luther when everyone in the business more or less supported him.

I am an Alum who is retiring from GA back to NC near GW next year. Was looking forward to some successful leadership on both Football and Basketball teams. This administration seems to to want a slap to the face of anyone who cares that successful sports teams who can compete with the big guys and beat the league competition on a consistent basis are GOOD PR for school/league/region/alumni. Their efforts seem to always be in the OPPOSITE direction from what is good for GWU. Suppressing support rather than building it up.
