There is a link below that anyone can use to research it if they want authenticity. In the 2013-14 report, among all FBS and FCS level schools fielding a football program, if you remove all of the HBCU's from the list, there is only one school that has a lower score than G-W, and that is the University of Idaho at 896. How can anyone (1) spin that into something positive and (2) if involved at all during the 2010-11 years that caused the problem, keep their job? Little minion donors like me at a c-note or in the neighborhood a year they really don't give a crap about. What few big name donors to the athletic program we have, it would only take one or two to just cut off the $$$, then maybe, just maybe, our trustees and admin would wake the hell up and make some much needed and long overdue leadership changes on the south part of campus. Here's the link if anyone doubts it..... www.ncaa.org/about/resources/research/academic-progress-rate-search

You find something negative about every single aspect of GWU athletics. If you are so unhappy with GWU athletics, why don't you take your c-note some where else? We are better off without you. I enjoy reading posts, but gwebb1994 you complain about everything. I think it is time for you to move on. You are so unhappy, find another team to pull for/support. you have complained for so many years, it is time to move on. No one is listening to you. We all understand that there are problems, but bashing chuck and dr. bonner does no good. I am sure that you know neither one personally. They are both great people who desire to win. If you have so many great ideas about how we can win, you should meet with chuck and dr. bonner about your great ideas. I am sure that you have coached many little league/ ymca teams so I bet that they are eager to meet with you and your wealth of knowledge about division 1 athletics. In the mean time, move on. I think UNCC boards are very active. Maybe they will listen to you?

I don't see anyone spinning those numbers into a positive, per se. However, if you say that "spin" is pointing out that the current football staff and student athletes are doing things the right way, then that's fine. The key to this situation is that the NCAA stopped offering a waiver for underfunded institutions during the middle the school's appeal. Also, why don't you become a big $$$ donor, then, to see how far you get in affecting change? Or, make a stand and withhold your c-note?

The bottom line with this whole situation is what's done is done... Hopefully the team will continue their trend and continue to improve each year. It seems to me the coaching staff wants nothing but success for their boys and for the university. But it is also time for the players to step up. They need to continue to grind out on the field, but more importantly continue to grind out in the classroom. Each one of them contributes to this score... so each and every one of them own it.
Just my opinion...

I don't think I realized how bad Ron Dickerson Jr. left the program until some time after he had left the program overall. Carroll McCray seems to be a good coach he will have to get some players in there before Gardner Webb can really start to turn the corner in the FCS and the Big South Conference. From what I am reading on here it appears the Dickerson Jr. had some good ball players that didn't belong from a academic standpoint and now were just starting to see all of this unfold now. So so unfortunate!
