After defeating a traditionally powerful Radford team, Women's Soccer has moved to 2-0 in Conference play, with a chance to take first in the Conference playing Winthrop next time out. For how terrible the state of athletics is at Gardner-Webb, it's nice to highlight a bright spot! This program returns some offensive weapons and a freshman in Jada Newton who has immediately contributed.
Despite the dark abyss that is GWU Sports, a 2-0 start may be grounds already for "Team of the Year" at the Webby's

The only strong contending program we have is Men's Basketball right now. Look through the list of all sports on the Big South website for championships in the 2016-17 and 2017-18 seasons. Guess who isn't on the list. Frankly, I doubt we even were runner-up in any of them.

I'd hate to go back through and look at the Overall or Conference record of the programs on campus the last couple of years. 94 is 100% correct, the only year-in year-out Big South contender is men's basketball, with occasional baseball seasons, but even then we're only a mid-pack team in the conference for that. Although swimming has always been pretty stellar here.

We are in first with big road win yesterday At noon today, 10/14: 1. Radford 6-1 2. GWU 5-1-1 Not quite in first, but great news that ANY program is that close to the top in Conference!!! As mentioned in the 'fantasy' AD for a Day thread, why the heck doesn't GW de-emphasize the football money pit and focus more resources on, say, the soccer programs, where we already have huge community goodwill? Get some good press out in the community Jake. Local peeps might just want their kids watching a winner up close.

Looks like one more win should lock up a home tournament game

Using the last decade as a sample Jake trying to make a valid point.
The fact we are on here in the dead middle of football season trying to celebrate anything by discussing women's soccer should speak volumes.

Very solid win for a program that's really turned it around this season. Really wish the higher seed would host, I think there would be some solid support for what will likely be the department's most successful team this year.
