Topic was mentioned on another thread, so I went back and researched the past decade, from the 2008-2009 athletic year to last year, the 2017-2018 athletic year.
Listing by sport of seasons out of the last 10 where the overall record was .500 or better:
Baseball - 5
Men's Basketball - 5
Women's Basketball - 6
Football - 2
Women's Lacrosse - 0 (4 seasons - highest win total in season - 4)
Men's Soccer - 2
Women's Soccer - 2
Softball - 2
Men's Tennis - 1
Women's Tennis - 4
Volleyball - 0
Wrestling - 2 (matches only, only 5 seasons of data on website)
Cross Country, Track & Field, and both Swimming squads don't have team win/loss records...
So, let's toss out Women's Lacrosse and Wrestling due to just starting and incomplete data. That leaves 10 sports with 10 seasons of results. 100 seasons of play combined.
In those 100 seasons combined, G-W has managed to be at or above the .500 win/loss mark a total of 29 times.
29% of the time our athletic teams just manage to break even in wins and losses. Anyone want to try and spin that at successful?
Discuss.....

Outside of men's basketball glory days in the 1970s the school hasn't had any consistent success in athletics since moving to senior college status way back in 69-70. Football sure hasn't. A blip here and there (12-2 one year and 1-9 the next for example). Not sure why that surprises anybody. Underfunded for much of the last 50 years. Can't win in a one stoplight town without some bells and whistles. Doesn't matter who's in charge or who's coaching.

Im guessing the five for Mens basketball are the last five in a row? Before the 14-18 overall record last season.

Didnt even realize we were under 500% last season in mbb. I think its fair to say that the MBB may be the only team in the athletic department that has any hope for a conference championship anytime soon. Probably one of the only programs we have that is honestly headed in a positive direction.
