Mid season retirement / resignation is not the norm... there’s something going on in this athletic department right now and it is a bit strange to have two women’s sports with mid season coach resignations. Burch and Downs need to be careful. Where there is smoke there is fire...

Yep, something definitely smells fishy. Picked first, having terrible season, but quitting halfway through means problems.
Maybe Downs will list this vacancy on Twitter as well. Pathetic.

Coach Cole was there a long time, so not a new hire that suddenly turned into a bad fit, or realized that GWU wasn't what they expected, or the players got a new coach they revolted against. This is very unusual, very strange to say the least. Can't speculate as to why this happened, BUT... I do know that Burch has trudged along through all of these events over the years, untouched. Can someone tell us why Burch is still here?? How?? For what purpose?? There must be a very specific reason, and I think that might just answer a lot of the questions that have arisen on this Board in the past...

Very strange timing, but to me the strangest thing is that the article had no quotes from either Cole or Burch. In the past when coaches have resigned (whether voluntarily or requested), there is always a glowing quote from Burch about the coach's contribution to the university and one from the coach thanking the AD/President/etc. Very telling that there's nothing like that here.
