Hello to everyone, we have a freshman on the football team this year and was hoping that someone will share with us: How many tickets does each player receive for home and away games? How is the tailgating experience? Does parking have to be purchased in advance?

Welcome, and hang around by all means.
I believe the NCAA rule permits 4 free tickets per student-athlete per game, maybe someone else can verify. I'm not sure if players can transfer freebies that aren't used to their teammates either.
Tailgating atmosphere is average at best. Shade is minimal unfortunately, the stadium is stuck over on a part of campus with few trees and frankly little ambience. No, parking doesn't have to be purchased in advance, heck, tickets never do.
Being an alum if I go to a game, I always park elsewhere on campus and basically walk the quad, etc. and over to the stadium, unless tailgating of course.

Thanks for the information. We definitely plan to stick around. We have a lot of respect for Coach Lamb and we are excited to be a part of the Gardner Webb family.

I believe Gwebb is right about the four tickets. If you need more tickets the player can ask other players if they are using all of theirs. Typically family and friends have to enter in from a specific gate at both home and away games. Many times it is the same gate as the will call gate. (most of the FCS schools are still using paper and pen checklists for these tickets. You walk up, show your id or give your name and they mark you off the list and give you your ticket)

I think defining "tailgating" would be helpful...😎
5 years ago never had any problems with ticket availability, seating, etc. Very reserved, calm crowd entering stadium. I liked the Stadium a lot, very impressive for the size of the school! Yes, it can be a hot, dusty walk from the front lots to it.
Back to tailgating, don't expect an SEC or NFL experience! Should go without saying I guess...

On one hand, they have full arrest authority and railroaded a class act like Larry Thomas out the door, you'd think no tolerance. However, the Springs of Boiling is now wet, so do they bother? A deeper question would be if the President's box in the stadium is dry or not.

I'll be discreet but will have a drink or two, rules be damned.

Just now found this site but glad I stumbled upon it… we also have a freshman this year and have been trying to navigate our way thru some of the same questions. Tickets, parking, tailgating…. We will definitely be tailgating… time to build an atmosphere at Gardner Webb!! We will have the only tiny house in tailgating area so please fell free to stop by and say hello and hang out….

A tiny house--love it! Sends a great message that you're all in on the tailgate.

Yes and no, it’s about level of discreteness and not being blatantly waisted you should be fine. I’ve drank plenty of times as a student and in recent years as an alumni and it’s relax as long as you don’t make it obvious. They got a million other things to do.
