Well, the first BBQ Bowl rivalry game. The trophy I understand. The shelling out of thousands of dollars if we lose I don't.
That being said, Camels have righted the ship after an 0-2 start. Stomped PC 72-0, then won at North Alabama 48-31 last night. They barely lost to Elon at home, so technically they should be 3-1.
We will have our hands full. This will be a true test of how much backbone Lamb has instilled in the program thus far after that egg we laid yesterday.

Am a longtime supporter and 81’alum of Campbell University and my beloved Desert Mules. Hope the GWU Football Family does not mind this post being put here, for my second favorite Big South school is The Running Bulldogs. Am now retired, and in addition to making all CU home games, will make a number of away games, including this Saturday’s inaugural BBQ Bowl. Looking forward to being in Spangler Stadium. May the best team win, and hoping GWU runs the table on the remainder of their schedule after Saturday. //////. Retired after working in college admissions 37 years, knew Randy Kilby, former Director of Admissions at GWU back in late 70’s, and 80’s. Great Guy, now deceased. I Digress way too much😊, GO Bulldogs & Desert Mules!!!!!!

Like this news, too: gardner-webb.edu/news/varsity-partners-will-lead-gwu-rebranding-effort/. I've grown fond(er) of our scamperin' dawg, although I've also always thought it looked like something out of a Tom and Jerry cartoon, for good or ill. (I mean, have you seen bulldogs run? Only so many ways to depict that without also provoking laughter.) Not sure changing it--if in fact that's what changes--will be popular at first, but I'm game for something fresh.

Somebody didn't do any research. Shocker.
A new logo? Hopefully better than the 'fire' rebrand the school did a couple of years ago, looks like a glorified promotional logo from the Methodist Church in the 1980s.

Hopefully better than the 'fire' rebrand the school did a couple of years ago, looks like a glorified promotional logo from the Methodist Church in the 1980s. I couldn't agree more about the fire-and-shield thing. Has a vaguely corporate look. As eager as I am to see how they tweak the athletic branding, I'd prefer that we get rid of the whole "Ignite your [fill in the blank]" approach (though it's better than the symbol itself) and find a better way to promote the school. I mean, "Ignite your future" sounds a little like prospective students get to watch their future go up in flames. Sorry. Don't mean to be negative--I'm happy with most of the changes the school has made over the past decade or two. And I think Downs has a great deal of energy. He seems intent on instilling some pride in students and alums, and I'm entirely on board with it.

Vegas has CU favored by 9, over/under of 66.5. I think we win a shootout, our defense, supposedly a strength, has been exposed. Our offense rebounds nicely.
GW 41 CU 37

Complete collapse late. Combination of lack of depth and lack of discipline. Got to use the bye to fix some things and come out strong in two weeks against an RMU who beat CSU today.
