Defensive 28-17 win. Somewhat disappointed we didn't blow them out after the big start.
And why does the atmosphere in the stadium resemble a hockey game with all the piped in music during dead periods? Last I checked in college football, that is what the band is for. Why bother spending the $$$ we don't have on a band if you aren't going to let them be used properly?

Agree. When music is used effectively, which to me means sparingly and maybe even strategically (to unite the home fans, for instance, or motivate the team itself), it can be a good thing. But today it seemed to be a tool we turned to anytime there was quiet, as if maybe the fans could be fooled into thinking there's never a lull in the action. If you can't stand the time between plays, you probably aren't a football fan. For all the knocks baseball takes for the standing around (between pitches), there's actually more of it, and less sustained activity, in football. But in both sports it's a feature, not a bug. It gives time to think about what happens next, and what's at stake.

Full disclosure, I was not at the game yesterday, but I have been seeing this trend more and more in big-time stadiums the last couple of years. I've gotten to three Power 5 games in three different stadiums this season, and the trend seems to be to pump music in every chance. Guessing the powers that be are trying to copy the trend of constant engagement for the duration of the game. Definitely not a bad goal when trying to build fan engagement, but I enjoy the more old school, laid back atmosphere of FCS football. No need to try to mimic the 80,000 attendance atmosphere, but I get what they're trying to do.

To be clear, notsofast, that's my sense, too. That it's an effort to create the sort of atmosphere found at schools with strong support for football is, in a sense, encouraging. There's a little Get Off My Lawn! in my critique.
