Big announcement on local Triad news last night, A&T out in all sports but football at end of spring semester, football after this fall. The speed at which this happened is the news, Big South football now is in true scramble mode...

The Big South is collapsing on top of itself.
HPU will be gone soon, they didn't build that palace of an arena to maintain the status quo. CU to the SOCON will happen as well.
Nobody wants GW. We have no money, and poor fan support. Example, a huge basketball home game with Winthrop, and we barely break 1,000 in attendance, with a good chunk of that being people that came over from Rock Hill. I know we play in a non fan friendly 40 year old building, but I doubt we'd have any bump in local interest even if we built something like HPU did.
Having our President piss off the locals in Boiling Springs has no doubt added to the apathy.
I fully expect Craft to leave soon, even if we don't go dancing this March, and Lamb is a hired gun anyway, too young and too much upside to stay here that long, ala Chris Holtmann. Mike Jones at UNCG looks like a genius now making what we all thought was pretty much a lateral move taking that job leaving RU.
Our admin needs to finally stop the charade. Either properly finance and commit to a D1 program, or go the route PC has and drop to D3 football and spread the saved funding on football to properly fund all the other sports to appropriate D1 levels.

I totally agree, too me and this is just an opinion but I think its time we go the Presbyterian College route and head over to the Pioneer Football League and start playing non scholarship Football I know nobody wants that but that's probably the best for us from a Football standpoint. What do you do about other sports is the million dollar question!!

No chance at dropping down in football. None. Zilch. Board of Trustees has no interest and neither does anyone else.

Playing as an FCS independent would mean bleeding money and not having any chance at a postseason berth, and you can't recruit at all without that possibility hanging out there. Remember, our beloved BOT is headed by an annoying ditz who happens to be in a family of crooked car dealers. There aren't enough D2 options looking to move up for the Big South to explore to try and maintain the autobid. About the only option it seems to me would be letting the six schools in the MEAC into the BSC as football members only. I know SC State was really looking at jumping to the BSC full time awhile back.

Well that quote says it all...they were blindsided by the A&T move, and are "wishing" and hoping for a good outcome for football going forward! What a weak, unreassuring statement. You always have said they were morons in Charlotte, now I see it for myself.
