Two slumping squads trying to prevent a freefall. They've lost 3 of 4, we've lost 4 of 5. Both 3-4 in conference play in a three way tie for 5th with CSU. I believe we haven't beat WU in Rock Hill since Craft's first season back in 13-14. An uphill climb for us Saturday for sure. Our defensive effort will keep us in this one like every other game thus far, but can we get some clean and consistent play on the offensive end?
Women on the other hand should have a breather in Porter Arena against a 3-14 WU squad that is 1-5 in conference play, have lost 3 straight, coming in off a 37 point loss to HPU at home on Wednesday night. Time to stay sharp and get some bench minutes in before a tough two game road swing to Upstate and HPU next week.

We need to do a better job of holding on to the ball and making free throws. Easier said than done, no doubt--but those two things should be top of mind for the men's team.

Hold WU without a FG for the last 6:56 after trailing by 9 and win 63-61 despite a sub .500 gsme from the charity stripe.
An ugly win but we’ll take it.
Women cruised, won 74-54.
A good day.

So after today, GW and Upstate are tied for 4th at 4-4, while CSU,, CU, and WU are all in a 3 way tie for 6th a game back at 3-5.
We have a chance now to put together a little streak with 3 of our next 4 at home. Our next four games:
UPSTATE HPU @ CSU PC
Keep playing great defense and shoot better from the charity stripe and let’s build off this rare win against Winthrop.
Meanwhile, the women are still two games ahead alone in first, but you flip the men’s schedule, and they’ve got 3 of the next 4 on the road, with a cushy home game against CSU, who hasn’t won in conference yet, mixed in. HPU is two games back, Upstate is two and a half back (waiting to make up Covid game with WU), and PC is four games back. If the ladies win three of four, they can start thinking about clinching the regular season title and at least an NIT berth.
