Should we beat CSU it is projected that we will travel to Mercer. UT Martin is projected to receive an at-large

Committee tries to keep the first round opponents within 400 miles of each other. This year, it pretty much means we’ll get Mercer or WCU in round one if we win Saturday. Maybe Elon perhaps.
I really hope our admin made an effort to host. Doubtful, but would be incredible.
UT Martin deserves an at large if they win Saturday. They would be 9-2 with losses to us and UGA.

With what it cost to hosts, there is no way we can recoup that money so I hope we don't host. That money could be best spent elsewhere

That money could be best spent elsewhere Nothing will drive away players, coaches and recruits like not investing in the program. Not making a quality bid is the worst thing we can do as a university. It’s not always about making every dollar back. You support these guys and show them you have their back and in the event that Lamb leaves for a bigger job you hopefully have earned their commitment to not jump ship.

I beg to differ. Minimum bid to host in play in round is $30K. No reason that we can’t make an offer doubling that to host. The exposure for campus is one thing, but giving the impression that GW is serious about athletics and escaping the previous NAIA/D2 mindset would be bigger behind the scenes.
It does make you wonder how EKU got the money to outbid us last year when a part of their stadium was roped off as unsafe. That was mind boggling.

Not to mention East Carolina payed GWU $350,000 this year. Not to mention the countless FBS opponents on the schedule year after year who payed similar. The football team has been supporting athletic department revenue for years with these type of games. If GWU has the opportunity to host, they need to find the money.

Don't get me wrong, I would love to host but when some of the Academic buildings have been grandfathered in under ADA and are not up to code, use the 30 K for that instead. Or if a donor wants to give us the money to host, great. I'm all for it

Or if a donor wants to give us the money to host, great. I'm all for it there are two issues with that Jake. 1. Athletic funds aren't the same as Academic Funds. 2. $30,000 isnt enough to even update a whole hallway in those buildings. Youre talking about major projects in those buildings. (that would probably be better off demolished and rebuilt) The price tag on doing what your suggesting would be in the millions. $30,000 isnt making a dent. This is where a donor would need to step up.

I know it's a pipe dream to see all that happen to the buildings, but I would love to see admin put focus on making GWU accessible to everyone. I loved my time there but sometimes I struggled to navigate in a wheelchair. I know we are in much better shape than some schools (cough, Cough EKU) in that regard, but it could be better.

Would be great to host, but that’s very unlikely, even with a good bid. More likely than last year, but still unlikely. I would assume a bid was made, knowing the expectations of those in charge across campus.
EKU in 2022 was like many first round games over the past few years. Maybe 1,500 fans there for the game. Not many draw well.
Need to beat Charleston Southern first. I can’t remember the last time we beat them at home. Maybe 10 years. Should win the game this year.

It’ll have to be a big donor to fork over $50-$100K on a whim.
The students will be gone home, but I would hope we could draw well. A matchup with WCU would bring the biggest number.

Well, if you compare GW and WCU in that regard it’s a wash. Both campuses empty out on the weekends. Both now have casinos within driving distance. Both have metropolitan toilet cities within driving distance. We’ve got fewer stoplights (1). That should give us the edge.

Shelby does have a good bit of hotels due to the American Legion surge every year. That may play to our advantage. There is also an angle on the "team performance" side that could be argued with this being our second playoff season in a row and winning on the road last year and being two time conference winners.
