Lets go ahead and throw some names out there:
1. Travis Cunningham: GWU Alum, current linebackers coach at App. Probabaly cant afford him.
2. Will Healey: Former Charlotte Coach. Similar to Lamb. Current Assistant at Austin Peay. (Pocketed a nice buyout from Charlotte so might not need our money).
3. Josh Reardon: Current DC for GWU.
4. Frank Reich: Newly Unemployed. Has lots of money. His brother is a successful d2 coach turned AD. Maybe Frank wants to give the college ranks a shot. Also a good Christian man. (this is a joke. Frank probably wont ever coach again and will enjoy life outside of coaching)
5. Mike Jacobs: Lenoir Rhyne HC. Turned LR into a D2 power.

Healy is on staff at UCF. We recruited him in high school. He was making over 800k at APSU and UNCC.

Travis Cunningham: GWU Alum & well respected with strong resume. 2. Trei Oliver: NC Central HC. Rebuilt the team in a few seasons to a playoff contender this year with a conference championship. Beat Deion Saunders/Jackson State winning the Celebration Bowl last year. 3. Tom Knotts: HS coaching legend in both NC( Charlotte Independence) and SC( Dutch Fork) with multiple HS state titles. Also has college coaching experience. His relationships with HS coaches in both NC and SC would be great for recruiting. I like Will Healey, but I think he would have one foot out the door

I like Will Healey, but I think he would have one foot out the door the HBCU pride and the fact that Oliver is at his almi mater probably means he has zero interest in GWU. Not to mention hes making 185k a year. We probably cant pay that yet alone beat it.

You think any credible coach with any FCS experience will come here after this latest display of ineptitude by Downs and Goodrich?
Think someone that is young like Lamb was coming in or some old worn out retread that wants to end their career as a HC. What GW showed, YET AGAIN, is their lack of commitment to properly funding a FCS/D1 level athletics program, while putting on a complete sham act that we are.
Coaches, recruits, students, and alumni know a fraud when they see one, we can only hope our BOT wakes up and sees it before GW as a whole fades into the academic history books.

5. Mike Jacobs: Lenoir Rhyne HC. Turned LR into a D2 power. Well, not really. Mike Houston and Drew Cronic built LR into a D2 power after Fred Goldsmith righted the ship. That said, Jacobs would be a good hire. Possible others: - Jeff Farrington, HC at North Greenville
- Mike Furrey, HC at Limestone
- Joe Pizzo, OC at UT-Chattanooga
- Chad Staggs, DC at Georgia State

Mike Furrey has done wonders at Limestone. From 0-11 the year before he arrived to two playoff appearances within three years. He'd almost be too easy of a hire being literally right across the state line. Not sure hiring a D2 guy would satisfy the large ego that Downs has.

Kudos to the GWU SID department for releasing a story. It really helps those of us in the media

Our DC won’t stay he’ll go with Lamb, like any player with any sense will as well.
Welcome to another two decades of complete irrelevancy in football.

Hard to hire a coach that just went 4-7, but Todd Knight (Newberry) is a GWU graduate that has amassed around a 65-70% win percentage and has been the HC at Newberry for 17 years. Rough year this year but he won back to back titles in a tough SAC conference in 2021 and 2022. He would likely retire at the Webb and not be looking for the next job the entire time.
Who knows if he would want to leave Newberry after all that time there, though.

Dipshit Downs in the press release said we are hiring a firm out of Raleigh to conduct a national search.
Anyone want to bet the money spent hiring the firm, if instead was used to make a strong bid and ended up hosting a playoff game instead, may have kept Lamb around another year?
More closing the barn door after all the herd has left.
