Faculty are all wanting us to drop down to D3 to save money and focus on academics. However after talking to several folks with knowledge of the situation, they told me that what killed Birmingham Southern was dropping down and adding back football. football.

D3 non scholly football and keep the other sports at D1? Like PC?
Frankly, faculty and staff morale is at an all time low. Getting Downs the hell off campus should be priority one.

Whomever we get next however might want to drop down which would cause GWU to die a slow painful death just like BSC

The next one needs to be from a private school background, of which Downs had zero experience and, with his arrogance added, has sent our alma mater down a slippery slope.

Fortunately the faculty you speak to have zero juice. Trustees would never go for that.

Why would anyone want to go to Gardner Webb solely for academics? Nursing and business school are decent but not much else. A drop to D3 or D2 would kill the university and the town of Boiling Springs. This university has lost its roots. Meanwhile North Greenville and Anderson are thriving.

Forgive me, but that's nonsense. I don't think any student at GW would rather be at North Greenville or Anderson, for crying out loud. And nursing and business are hardly the only departments doing well. There's too much drama on this board.

I read this board to hear about the games and the teams NOT the conspiracy theories and coprophilia. GW has its ups and downs but in so many ways it’s stronger than ever. For those that disagree give me your GW golden era… other than 1998-2001 when I was there

The bigger problem at the moment is the person occupying the Presidents chair with zero private liberal arts college background. Until that is fixed, any discussion of moving classifications, etc. is moot.
1991-1994 by the way, when GW went university status.
