As we head into today's doubleheader at Asheville (6-14 after last nite), having given up a late lead last night with a disastrous defensive 8th inning and losing 4-3 to the doormats of the south div., we're in bad shape: 8-14 overall, 1-3 in conference, 2-8 in games decided by 1 run. We've found all manner of ways to lose close games late, its becoming a recurring nightmare. Short term, we need a sweep today..... comon Dawgs, you're better than this.

We are WAY more talented than this. Crapping away multiple games late has quickly become an albatross.

Scored 3 in top of ninth in first game to rally and win 7-6, lost the nightcap 5-1. Meh.

With the split today, we have fallen to 2-4 in conference and 9-15 overall. Losing 2 at Asheville hurts, but its not that surprising. When the University doesn't provide for the nutritional needs of the players in any adequacy before and during a doubleheader that spans 6 hrs., maybe optimal performance can't be expected. This is a shame. Brought up last year, assured it wouldn't happen again, etc.etc., but it keeps reminding us that we're really not funded at a D-1 level. All that hard work, fall training, weights, etc., and not enough food to get through 2 games? The truth may hurt, but it needs to be put out there.

Nothing about this team resembles what you would expect from a D1 baseball program. It hasn't for a number of years and will not unless some big changes are made.

So, I guess it is the coaches, school, administration, AD, meal plan, housing plan, etc... Fault that the team has committed 41 errors(.958 fielding percentage) and that the guys are hitting .245.
The guys just aren't playing to their potential. They're a good team. They just have to start playing better. Let's not make excuses for them.

If they're a 'good team', why aren't they playing like one? 2-8 in 1 run games. Answer that, and we'll have a good discussion going. I doubt you're capable of more than canned sarcasm, however.
