As we head into a doubleheader today @ Furman, and a home game with them Sunday, a few things are worth noting...
We have started the season 3-9, losing 5 games by 1 run. We have been shutout the last seventeen (17) inning we've played. We have 2 starters with ERA's under 1.00, one of which (Fraudin) doesn't have a win to his credit. HC Stroupe has continually scrambled the line-up, more than usual, hoping to pull the situational rabbit out of the hat time after time. More crap than hare has been the result, the team seems to be reeling confidence-wise, Stroupe's constant tinkering has been a disaster, and yet we're so close to being a real good ball club. Our collective confidence is on the fence...
That's why this weekend is really important, the last before heading to UNC next Wed., then opening up Conference play at home vs. Winthrop the 14th.
We have Fraudin starting game 1, with Barnett in the nightcap. Fraudin has been unreal, allowing 2 earned runs in 25 inning pitched. Senior Barnett is right behind stat-wise. Lets get these top shelf arms some early cushion and sweep the Paladins. That would change our fortunes, get things rolling again, and provide a huge boost heading into the Conference season!
Lets go Runnin' Bulldogs!

Preach on dawgdad. Let's win some of these close ones and stop the dickering with the lineup so much.

Great sweep. Play well in Chapel Hill and get ready for a huge opening series with Winthrop next weekend. WU isn't setting the woods on fire either, they've lost 6 straight, they play Wofford Wednesday before the weekend.

Love the Hoggard Kudo's for sure! Our Recruiting Coordinator and Assistant HC Kenneth Cox is a Hoggard Viking alum, and was largely responsible for both those kids finding their way to GW. Coach Cox is an incredible human being, and deserves much more attention for all he does for the team and University. All that know him would agree he is the engine that makes GW Baseball a solid D1 program!
The team badly needed to come back and win a tight game. Yesterday's was just what the doctor ordered. Confidence is everything in baseball, and we gained a lot this weekend, that's for sure. We've had the ingredients to be a good team, maybe now we'll win our share when it counts. Have fun in Chapel Hill, respect the traditions, but understand its just another ballgame in preparation for the Conference Opening series this weekend at home v. Winthrop.
