Link below. What has been rumour since the early days of new HC Dickerson's hiring has finally come to pass. Ron Dickerson, Sr., father of new HC Ron Dickerson, Jr. has been brought in to coach DL after NAIA Lambuth closed it's doors and left the elder Dickerson out of a HC position. His resume is impeccable but to make room, previous Defensive Line Coach Godinez had been shifted to a new assistant role of Assistant Coach of Safeties and maintaining his role as Recruiting Coordinator. Our overall staff has been upgraded in significant ways and only 51 days until the season kicks off and we learn if it all will transfer to something special on the field. Here's hoping that our fan base will refrain from the nepotism commentary and that the program is further strengthened. www.gwusports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_LANG=C&DB_OEM_ID=10300&ATCLID=205181686Go Running Bulldogs!

Time will always tell. If he can coach, then coach'em up. From what I can see from my side of the fence, changes have been good, hard but good. My father came to work from my company, he did what he did best, and mentor some I could not reach. All in all he was an assets to everyone. I believe WE are going to suprise a lot of people this year.

Nepotism? Nah. If you want the definition of that in the college game, go no further than Tallacrappy and the hypocritcal Bowden family during the late part of his tenure there. Who knows how many Bowdens are still sucking off of the Florida Government teat at this point.
I'm still giddy over an 11th game being added to the schedule, but still trying to figure the logic in a 6 pm kickoff during the week. The bye week is in a near perfect spot IMO, right after the big back-to-back matchups against FBS level opponents. We're sandwiched on Samford's schedule right between their road trips to Wofford then Furman. Perfect position for G-W, with the off week, to go down to Bammer and pull out a W.

Nepotism?? Come on guys, have we forgot what coaches we had before? Lets not get crazy and pretend its not a huge plus for us to have him at GWebb. We couldnt have gotten him if his son wasnt here thats for sure!! Dang, lets not get silly here and act like we have had nothing but Joe Paternos here for ever. This man can coach some defense and has proven it better than anyone GWebb has had before. I dont care how he got here, he is here!!

unk96 - That was exactly the point I was trying to make with my initial post. Dickerson, Sr's resume as I said is impeccable and that our staff has been upgraded in a significant way. I didn't want anyone to make the nepotism charge without carefully considering how much we have upgraded our staff with the new HC, other position staff and now Dickerson, Sr. and comparing it to what GWebb had in the past. I'm not knocking the prior staff at all but on paper and with the results that some of these new coaches produced, it has been and is an upgrade. I like all the rest am anxious to see these off field positive changes transfer to on the field positive changes. The wait is not as long as it was yesterday or last week. The season opener is just 48 days away. I am ready for some football, can't wait to see the guys hit training camp.

The Nepo Card is something GWU bosses can keep in their back pocket for later if needed. For now, its long days of finding and teaching defensive line how to stop the run, block punts, block field goals, knock passes down, and sack the quarterback. I hope Pops and his line can Git-R-Done. Red...Black...Bulldogs attack!

I am just so excited for our kids. From an experiance standpoint, I cant believe our kids are being exposed to alot of these guys. What a blessing for them. I know we will see a diffrence in thier performance. Hopefully, a big one but there will be a change. These guys are limited to what talent is here, but ok I will say it, I am one that always felt like there was better talent standing on the side at alot of positions than was on the field and the spring games and scrimmages always supported that. How they chose who was to play I will never know, but thats hopfully behind us. I am so excited about the running bulldogs. You dont have to win them all just represent everytime and I felt like there were times in the past we did not do that. Just my opinion based on just what I saw and my limited knowledge of 7 years of football.
