Opine here.
at South Alabama - a tough opener against a team that lost some offense but has had an influx of UAB transfers. I can't see an upset here, but can see our defense play well enough to keep it within 20 and respectable. L
ELON - home opener, family weekend on campus, against a team many pick to finish dead last in the CAA. This is the key game on the slate IMHO to try and build something this season, and I think we find a way to pull out the win. W
VIRGINIA UNION - a D-2 cupcake to enjoy. W
at Wofford - we've beaten them two straight seasons. Unforunately, I think the Terriers dish out some serious revenge in Sparkle City. L
LIBERTY - homecoming, and yet again, somebody in the admin thinks it is a good idea for LU to be the game to schedule it on. Yikes. The evening kick for homecoming is an excellent idea however, and should lead to a larger crowd. We'll play well off the bye and keep it close, but LU has too much firepower. L
at Kennesaw State - upset alert, it will be their first FCS opponent and conference opponent at their place. First year squad however, and we'll find a way to pull out a tough hard fought one. W
CHARLESTON SOUTHERN - a tough one, but one I think we pull out at home. W
at Presbyterian - a much improved Blue Hose squad this fall. The Calvinists are normally predestined to lose, but unfortunately, not this time. L
at Coastal Carolina - clearly the favorite, but hoping the wheels fall off for them in their last year of Big South play. Somebody will beat them this fall, but it won't be us. L
ETSU - another first-year squad, led by Carl Torbush. By this time of the season, the Bucs should be beat up quite a bit, and we'll be looking to take out some frustration. W
MONMOUTH - senior day and although not having the playoff berth in play all year, the chance to finish strong and build heading in 2016 by getting above .500. The one traffic light culture shock gets to the big city boys on their first trip to the Boiling Springs Metropolitan Area. We get it done. W
So, I say we finish 6-5 overall, 3-3 in conference. Maybe a bit too optimistic, but McCray is still trying to get the stench out of the program, finishing above .500 this fall would be a great accomplishment toward that goal.
