Since you requested a team breakdown.
QB - So. Darius Wilson in his second year as starter. Calm, cool and efficient. Makes big plays with legs and arm. 9th in FCS in passing efficiency and 7th in Yds./completion.
RB - Three headed monster with Bronson Yoder the ringleader and contrasting styles from Donavyn Lester and Malachi Imoh. Over 2200 yards between the three averaging over 7 yds/carry. Spot duty from 6'2" 235 rFr. Martin Lucas.
TE - Lachlan Pitts important playmaker averaging over 20 yds/catch. 6'6" 255 and excellent blocker. Frequently play 2 TEs.
WR - Since we don't throw a lot their numbers are modest but play four who all have big play ability. Caylin Newton and DreSean Kendrick leading guys. Persistent blockers.
OL - Biggest question mark going into season with four new starters has actually been a team strength. Much like GW they are not huge but smart, quick and very athletic.
DL - Experienced and deep playing 7-man rotation in 3-4-4 defense. Good size. Athletic. DE Nate Lynn was 2021 consensus All-American.
OLB - So. John Pius CAA Def. POY complimented by 5th year guy Kevin Jarrell. Exoerienced depth.
ILB - Experienced leadership with size and athleticism. Play four guys.
CB - Good depth led by ALL-CAA Ryan Poole and CAA Def. ROY Jalen Jones.
S - Good tackling group who also cover well led by 6'3" Marcus Barnes and 6'3" Malcolm Spencer. Tye Freeland used in multiple spots may be best of the three.
Special Teams - Dependable and efficient across the board. PK Ethan Chang All-CAA has 57 yd. FG.
We run the ball. If you're looking for weaknesses you won't get them from me. Villanova coach on us prior to our game... "If anyone sees any weaknesses in them please call me!"

W&M sounds formidable. No great surprise there to anyone following FCS this year.
Tentatively planning to make it home (Richmond area) this weekend for the game. Hope we'll have a decent GW turnout.

I just saw you have a corps style marching band. I hope you bring them up! We once had one though went the pep band route about 30 years ago. Still prefer a marching band.
This coming weekend is the Grand Illumination in Colonial Williamsburg, an annual holiday tradition that draws thousands. Now with the game, the place will be buzzing. A great time to visit.

Great win at EKU - I know our victory stunned a lot of people in FCS, but it didn't surprise me one bit. William & Mary will provide a bigger challenge, but they would be smart not to overlook this team. Proud of the Dawgs!
On a side note, if we can pull off the upset in Williamsburg, you gotta believe that it might possibly get the attention of the SoCon, if you know what I mean.
Probably not, and that's ok.

This will be a tough one for sure!!! I have my Bulldog flag all over the Garbage truck so far no one has said anything but I don't see it lasting long before someone tells me at work it has to come down!! Had a few alumni honk pass me but nonetheless I got us winning a wild one another high scoring game!!

I was really impressed with Darius Wilson William and Mary's QB watched some highlights when they destroyed Villanova 45-12. 12 of 15 passing 3 TD's granted Villanova didn't play well, but Wilson looked good that game overall he will be tough for us Defensively!!

Iv been waiting on approval to get into your board for 48+ hours. I am really surprised at how the majority of your fan base doesn't view us as even competitive. I think your base is putting too much stock into our early season performance. This team today is not the same team that played Elon. I do think you guys will be able to run the ball on us but my questions is will the Tribe D be able to hold our offense. Coach Lamb has shown the ability to have his team ready to perform offensively on the ground and through the air. We are probably one of few offenses in the nation that have had a 425+ passing yard game and a 425+ rushing yard game in the same season. |
